Learning Outcomes
Knowledge & Understanding
- Discuss adult educators’ and trainers’ roles in engaging with pedagogies of difference when teaching in person, online and in hybrid modalities;
- Identify assessment strategies that can be used with adult learners; and
- Describe various methods of providing qualitative feedback.
Skills
- Analyse learner cohort/s representation and/or under-representation in given educational settings and resources;
- Develop educational resources for in person / online / hybrid use that dwell on potential socio-cultural differences among learners as assets; and
- Use information from assessment tasks to provide qualitative feedback.
Assessment: Assignment (100% weighting)
Develop a plan for a face-to-face / online / hybrid lesson for a cohort of adult students or trainees on a topic of your choice. Aspects discussed can include:
a. Learning outcomes (knowledge and skills acquired by the student)
b. Essential info on student cohort (class size, backgrounds, etc.)
c. Logistics (time, place, etc.)
d. Outline of what happens during the session
e. 2-3 examples of resources (in print, or equipment, or digital, etc.)
f. Pre-assessment task (if applicable), assessment, post-assessment (if applicable) brief/s, and related criteria (formal / informal, formative, or summative)
g. A basic plan for the evaluation of the session (formal / informal: to get feedback from students)
h. Limitations and mitigating measures (if any)
Guidelines
It is possible to work as an individual or in pairs.
17 April 2026, 15:00-19:00hrs Present your plan (10 mins. if you worked as an individual, 15 mins. if you worked in pairs). Questions and discussion from the floor will follow (5 mins.).
Review your work and submit it using the designated Turnitin space on the VLE (Word, PDF, slides, etc.)
Your work should include a minimum of 3 references (including at least 1 from the ones provided) formatted using an established format, e.g., APA.
Word count: 2,000 max excluding references, footnotes, any appendices, etc.
Final submission: 2 May 2026
You can submit as many updates of your work as needed until 23:59hrs of the final submission date.
